Middle East Witness: A Nonviolent Presence in Israel and Occupied Palestine Middle East Witness (MEW) is working for a US policy in support of the two-states solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. MEW was founded in direct response to an appeal from Palestinians from the Occupied Territories for an ongoing peace presence. MEW was created by a nation wide network of activists, including people from Arab-american and Jewish-american organizations. MEW draws on extensive prior experience in sponsoring delegations and placing longer term volunteers in the region. Modelled after Witness For Peace in Nicaragua, MEW benefits from the involvement of a number of people who helped shape that organization. Short term delegations of fourteen to twenty-one days, spend up to fifty percent of their time with Palestinian families and communities in the West bank or Gaza. Long term volunteer team members commit six months or more to MEW. For more information contact: Middle East Witness 515 Broadway Santa Cruz CA 95060 USA Phone 408 423 1626 Fax 408 423 8716
