Power to the People!
We, the editors of NVT join our readers and all other progressive people in
congratulating the people of the Soviet Union in their stunning and inspiring
defeat of the coup attempt of 18-22 August.  We wish them every success in
their challenging future and thank them for demonstrating just how powerful
nonviolence can be, in the hands of a unified population.  Violence is not
the ultimate sanction!

Editorial Collective
