Dear NVT, International Fellowship of Reconciliation seeks a nonviolent training coordinator. The Secretariat of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation, based in Alkmaar, Netherlands, 40 km north of Amsterdam, is looking for a new staff member to develop, coordinate and promote its International Nonviolence Education and Training Project. This coordinator will be responsible for communication with the IFOR network and beyond, for determining training needs and developing strategies to address them, for collecting, developing and disseminating nonviolence materials, for doing some training, for fundraising for the continuation of the Project. We expect the new staff member to come for a period of three years, starting early 1992. The working language in the office is English; the command of any other language is a definite asset. We are looking for someone with good training experience, organizing and practical skills, able to work in a small team in an inter-cultural environment, willing to travel. We anticipate that the person appointed will spend approximately 3/4 of the time working from the secretariat, 1/4 in the field. IFOR is a transnational, spiritually-based organization committed to peace, justice and social and personal change through nonviolent means. The person coming to work in the office should feel at ease with such commitment. Completed applications should arrive by September 15, 1991. For further details write immediately to IFOR, Spoorstraat 38, 1815 8K Alkmaar, The Netherlands, Telephone: (31-72) 12 30 14, Fax: (31-72) 15 11 02. Dear NVT, The Asia Peace Research Association of which I am Secretary General is holding its regional meeting next year from January 31 to February 4 here at the University of Canterbury. The conference has the general theme Peace and Security in the Asia Pacific Region - Post Cold War Problems and Prospects. It has a number of innovative features: * We are trying to bring peace researchers together with foreign and defence policy makers from every country in the region. * We intend having a pre-conference computer link within the region to identify key issues. * We hope to have a declaration that will map out specific steps for moving from unilateral defence to common security in the region. But we also want to focus on nonviolence. Gene Sharp will probably be coming, and we would like your group to be represented. If you are interested you can drop me an email note (K.Clements@csc.can-terbury.ac.nz) or send us a note and we will send more information. A general announcement appeared in the confer-ence oz.announcements on Pegasus, the Australian node of APC network. Please let us know if you are interested, best wishes, Kevin P Clements
