Nonviolence Gathering At the Melbourne gathering after the Gulf Peace Team's return, it was agreed that we needed to revive and promote a national Nonviolent Action (NvA) network, including regional and international links. A series of national gatherings was held in the early 1980's but the last one was in 1988. In the last year the Gulf Peace Team, Aidex, and the PBI have provided a focus for further work on Nonviolent Action. At the same time we need to take into account the antipathy to NvA that sees to have developed since 1983/84, and the fact that there are now many new activists who have no awareness of NvA in terms of philosophy or practice. At this gathering at Commonground we hope to evaluate some of these experiences and plan ahead for the future of the network in Australia.
